Used when applying for approval of building work that was previously being checked by a private Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA) under an Initial Notice, however, for any reason, that notice has now been cancelled.

When an Initial Notice is cancelled, the works become unauthorised and should revert back to the local authority to prevent potential action against illegal works.

Reversion work can only be authorised by the local authority.

If works began from or after the 1st October 2023, you must submit the duty holders’ details, and provide the “New Application Declaration” form signed by the duty holders, when you submit your application.

When submitting your application include as much information as possible in your supporting documents, for example inspection notes, reports and lists of outstanding contraventions from the RBCA, invoices, construction notes and designs, photos of works during construction.

The more information that can be provided, especially inspection notes, the better chance your works can be signed off without needing to expose works (open up trial holes).
