A Partner Authority application can be used where another local authority checks the plans for building work taking place in Colchester.
How the process works
The Partner Authority will:
- receive the plans, specifications and calculations
- check that the design meets building regulations
- issue the decision notice
- send the application and decision to Colchester Building Control
Colchester Building Control will:
- carry out inspections during the work
- complete the final inspection
- issue the completion certificate where the work is satisfactory
Contact the Partner Authority directly if you need advice about the plans or supporting documents you must provide.
Duty-holder information
You must provide the required duty-holder details and a signed New Application Declaration with your application.
Read the building control application process for information about duty-holder responsibilities, inspections and completion.
Inspection fees
For Partner applications where only the inspection fee applies, please note there is a minimum fee of £179.17 + VAT (£215).
The client and Partner Authority should agree who will pay the inspection fee.
Enter the payer’s email address in the payment email section of the application form.
We will send that person an email with a link to pay by card through the Council Payment Service.
