Priorities Outcomes
Strengthen Colchester’s tourism sector and welcome more visitors each year
  • Amphora's continued delivery of a vibrant and diverse events Calendar working together with City Partners to enhance the visitor economy and place Colchester firmly on the Map.
  • Support the continued success of The Creative Colchester Partnership through its Board and projects
  • Support the partnership led approach to improving the City Centre wayfinding signage.
Make the most of our Heritage and Cultural offer
  • Delivery of 2024/25 budgeted Cultural and Creative Grants including Mercury, Arts Centre and Firstsite grants and small grants scheme.
  • Improvements to Castle Park including the redevelopment of Children’s Play Area to be completed in December 2025.
  • Essential investment, supported by external funding, to ensure our heritage for future generations, including; significant works on the Town Hall, Castle, museums, and the Roman Mosaic to ensure they are conserved, accessible and well displayed for residents
    and tourists. Progress a Natural History Museum funding application for future redevelopment and progress Fieldgate Quay repairs and flood alleviation works in the Hythe area of Colchester.
  • Deliver a programme of learning, exhibitions and events in our museums that engage residents and school children and teach them about Colchester's history as well as attract tourism to Colchester.
  • Proactively use legal powers to ensure buildings, streets and spaces are well maintained and attractive for residents and visitors to our city.
