This year has continued to be financially challenging. Rising demand and costs mean the Council still faces a significant budget gap.
Through our Fit for the Future programme, we are making difficult but necessary changes to transform how we work, while protecting essential services and supporting those most in need.
Despite these pressures, we remain ambitious for Colchester. We continue to invest across the city, including repairs to Colchester Castle’s roof, new gallery designs at our Natural History Museum and public realm improvements at St Nicholas Square.
These achievements reflect our commitment to improving quality of life across our city, with summer concerts and events all year drawing residents and visitors into Colchester.
