Investing in Colchester’s Digital Workforce
With a thriving community of more than 4,000 digital professionals and enthusiasts, Colchester’s tech sector continues to grow. To support and accelerate this momentum, we’ve partnered with the South East Local Enterprise Partnership and a range of local organisations to launch the Digital Forum, now open at the heart of the city and bringing fresh energy to Queen Street.

A Space for Innovation
Costing around £6.25 million and supported by a major government grant, the Digital Forum is now a vibrant hub where growing tech businesses, local talent, digital artists and entrepreneurs can collaborate, innovate and shape the future of Colchester’s digital economy. The Hub is officially open and ready to welcome the city’s next generation of creators and innovators.
Honouring Our Heritage
The design of the building is honouring Queen Street’s heritage by replicating the aesthetic of the early 1900s Theatre Royal which used to occupy the site. On September 4th, 1918, the theatre caught fire and was completely burnt out. It was demolished for the former bus garage.

Even More Digital Investment
From a new Digital Skills Hub just outside the city centre to a £55 million investment in 5G to support business and tourism, Colchester has unique opportunities on the horizon.
