Clothing banks and how to use them properly

Use clothing banks to donate unwanted clothes and help reduce waste. If a bank is full, do not leave bags beside it — this is fly-tipping and may result in a fine.

A donation on the floor is not a donation anymore!

Using clothing banks helps people and protects the environment. But leaving bags beside a full bank is fly-tipping and can lead to a fine.

If the bank is full

  • Call the phone number on the clothing bank.
  • If no answer, take your bags away.
  • Use another bank or donate to a charity shop when open.

Never leave bags on the ground, even if you think it’s only temporary.

Why you must not leave bags on the floor

  • It attracts more bags, one turns into a pile quickly.
  • Wildlife can get trapped or hurt by loose items.
  • Bags get ripped open, the clothes get wet and dirty.

Once ruined, clothing cannot be reused or recycled it may go to landfill.
