Developer contributions

Information on developer contributions, when they apply, and how they are secured through planning obligations.

In some cases, a development may not go ahead and the planning permission expires. When this happens, any related planning obligations end and the associated contributions are no longer required.

For outline planning permissions, some contributions cannot be calculated until a Reserved Matters application is approved.

For example, education contributions often depend on the final number and type of homes, which is only confirmed at the Reserved Matters stage.

The same applies to some contributions for leisure and community facilities, so these amounts may not appear in the reports.

Outstanding sums shown in the reports are potential amounts only. They will only be paid if the development is implemented.

Some payments are also phased, meaning they become due only when the relevant stage of the development is carried out.
