Comment on planning applications

You can search for, and comment on, a planning application via our online search function.

You have 21 days to comment from the date on your notification letter or from when the application was registered. If a bank holiday falls within this period, we will allow extra days for you to respond before we make a decision.

When you comment on a planning application:

  • You must provide your name and address. We do not accept anonymous comments
  • Your comments will appear online in due course
  • Your address will be made public, but your phone number and email address will not, in line with data protection laws.
  • Do not include personal details in your comments
  • Make sure that your comments are relevant and not defamatory or offensive. You are personally and legally responsible for what you write.
  • We reserve the right to remove comments from this website that are defamatory or offensive.

Who can comment?

  • Anyone can comment on a planning application. You don't need to be notified.
  • Any planning issue raised will be considered but only if they are "material considerations".
  • A material consideration is an item that should be considered when deciding on a planning application or on appeal against a planning decision.
