Complaining about high hedges

If you believe that a neighbour's hedge constitutes a nuisance to you then you may be able to complain to the council under the High Hedges Act 2005.

Where negotiation or mediation has failed, a complaint can be made and will be assessed independently and impartially.

The government has guidance on what complaints local authorities can consider. Read the information carefully as the fee is non-refundable.

Government guidance:

Service fee

If you feel you have a valid case and would like to make a complaint, you will need to pay (currently £782.50) for the service. The fee must be submitted with your complaint.
