Murder, Mystery and Mayhem Await at Colchester Castle This September

Step into a world of ancient intrigue, scandal and suspense as Colchester Castle invites you to uncover a deadly conspiracy at its immersive murder mystery evening, The Nile-High Club, on Saturday 19 September 2026.

Colchester Castle illuminated at dusk beneath a dramatic blue and purple evening sky. The historic stone castle is lit with warm amber, pink and gold floodlights that highlight its textured walls and arched doorway. Trees frame the scene on both sides, with one brightly illuminated in orange and red light. A flag flies from the castle roof, and gardens, pathways, benches and visitor signage are visible in the foreground.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Colchester Castle – the largest Norman keep in Europe – this thrilling after-hours experience transports guests to Ancient Egypt, where a web of deception, ambition and murder threatens to derail a royal celebration.

Can You Solve the Crime?
The year is 55AD. Emperor Nero has travelled to Egypt to attend Queen Cleopatra's Annual Festival of Drunkenness and hopes to secure her hand in marriage. However, beneath the festivities, a dangerous plot is taking shape. As secrets unravel and alliances shift, guests will find themselves at the heart of a spectacular series of betrayals, poisonings and double-crosses.

As the mystery unfolds around you, you'll need sharp observation skills, quick thinking and a detective's instinct to identify the culprit before it's too late.

An Unforgettable Night Out
Whether you're a seasoned sleuth, a fan of immersive theatre, or simply looking for a unique evening with friends, The Nile-High Club promises an experience unlike any other.

Guests will be welcomed with a glass of fizz and light nibbles before the action begins. A licensed bar will remain open throughout the evening, while attendees are encouraged to embrace the theme by dressing in Egyptian-inspired attire – though a keen eye for clues will be just as valuable.
