Leisure World Colchester is inviting children of all abilities to take part in its Junior Swimming Crash Courses, running from 24–28 August.

The intensive five-day programme is designed to help young swimmers make rapid progress, whether they are taking their first steps in the water or developing more advanced techniques. With lessons taking place on consecutive days, children benefit from regular practice, helping them build confidence and reinforce key skills more quickly than through weekly lessons alone.

Swimming is an essential life skill that supports water safety while also improving fitness, coordination and overall wellbeing. It is a fun, low-impact activity that encourages children to stay active and develop confidence both in and out of the pool.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhoods and Leisure at Colchester City Council said: “Swimming is one of the most valuable skills a child can learn, providing not only a fun way to stay active but also a vital life skill that could one day save lives. Our summer crash courses offer a fantastic opportunity for children to build confidence in the water, improve their technique and make real progress in a short space of time. We look forward to welcoming both new and existing swimmers to Leisure World Colchester this August.”

Courses are available for swimmers from Stages 1–7, with sessions running between 9am and 10.30am throughout the week.
