Support Colchester’s museums and heritage during Remember a Charity Week (7 to 13 September).

Promotional graphic for Remember a Charity Week, taking place 7 to 13 September. The design features a light green background with large white text reading “Remember a CHARITY Week” and a pink circular badge displaying the dates. Three photographs are arranged in curved diamond-shaped frames: a historic red-brick building, the interior of a museum with exhibition displays, and an ancient stone building with a round tower. Decorative pink and teal geometric shapes appear in the lower corners of the image.

Colchester residents can help protect the city’s museums, collections and stories for future generations by supporting Colchester Museums Development Foundation (CMDF) during Remember a Charity Week, taking place from 7-13 September. The annual campaign raises awareness of charitable giving and the lasting difference people can make by leaving a gift in their Will.

Protecting Colchester’s heritage
Colchester Museums Development Foundation (CMDF) inspires and enriches our local Colchester community, through the preservation, exploration and sharing of the city’s rich heritage. From more than two thousand years of history at Colchester Castle to millions of years of natural history at the Natural History Museum, all three of Colchester’s museums celebrate the breadth and depth of the stories that shape the local area.

Legacy gifts can support research, learning programmes, conservation and collections care, helping Colchester Museums preserve and share the city’s heritage with more people. Together, these gifts help keep Colchester’s history accessible, relevant and inspiring for generations to come.

Ways to support
There are many ways to support CMDF, including becoming a Museum Guardian member, making a general online donation, leaving a gift in your Will or symbolically adopting one of the museum’s objects. Online object adoption starts from £10 and is a popular, sustainable gift that helps care for Colchester Museums’ collections.

Councillor Darius Laws, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Environment, said: “Colchester’s museums hold the stories, objects and memories that help define who we are as a city. A gift in your Will is a deeply meaningful way to protect that heritage, support learning and conservation, and ensure our collections continue to inspire residents and visitors for generations to come. However people choose to give, their support will make a lasting difference.”
