Something strange is stirring within the ancient walls of Colchester Castle, and visitors are being invited to step inside after hours to uncover the truth at Serpents’ Curse: Escape Experience on 23 May 2026.
Set inside Europe’s largest Norman Keep, this immersive escape‑style adventure plunges teams into a gripping mystery. As unexplained happenings begin to unfold, staff vanish and rumours of a powerful curse spread through the Castle. With time running out, players must work together to search the building, uncover hidden clues and solve a series of puzzles before it’s too late.
Designed for groups of up to eight people, Serpents’ Curse offers up to 45 minutes of fast‑paced problem‑solving and teamwork in an atmospheric, after‑hours setting. The experience is suitable for ages 10 and over, with at least one adult aged 18+ required per group.
Ideal for families, friends or anyone looking for something a little different to do locally, the adventure blends Colchester Castle’s rich history with the excitement of a live escape experience, bringing the building’s dramatic past vividly to life.

With it taking place during May Half Term, it’s also a fun and unique way for families and friends to enjoy the school holidays by sharing an exciting experience together.”

There are two start times to choose from on 23 May – 6.15pm and 7.30pm. Places for each session are limited and advance booking is essential.
