Leisure World's Leisure Pool on Cowdray Avenue is set to benefit from a significant investment programme, with a major package of refurbishment and improvement works planned from late September 2026.
To enable the works to be completed safely and efficiently, the Leisure Pool will temporarily close from late September until early 2027, while improvements are carried out. The investment will enhance the customer experience, modernise key areas of the facility and help ensure the pool remains a popular destination for families and swimmers.

The £1.4m investment will see a range of improvements delivered across the Leisure Pool, including pool relining works, upgraded changing facilities, improvements to the external flumes, improved air ventilation, a new splash pad and upgraded water features.

These improvements will create a refreshed and more welcoming environment for customers, with modernised facilities, greater comfort and an enhanced overall visitor experience. The programme forms part of a continued commitment to investing in high-quality leisure facilities and ensuring the Leisure Pool remains a much-loved destination for residents and visitors.

The Leisure Pool is expected to close in late September 2026 and reopen in early 2027.
During the closure period, other facilities within Leisure World Colchester will continue to operate as normal. Customers will be kept updated on the progress of the improvement programme, with further details and reopening information shared closer to completion.
